We need your help!

We have applied for a School Garden grant and we need
you and your family members to vote for the Holmen School
Gardens at this link:
http://www.seedsofchangegrant.com/Gallery.aspx   or
through your Facebook accounts or both!!

Voting begins April 1st and goes until April 21st.  You can
vote once per day.   We have gardens at all six of our
schools.  In addition to the traditional gardens we have a
hydroponic garden at our High School growing lettuce year
round for our Food Service, a full field of sweet corn that
students plant and harvest, and the most exciting, "garden"
we are initiating is our new, "chicken garden."  Our
agriculture and FFA students will be raising chickens from
egg to market weight and processing them in a USDA facility
to be returned to our kitchens where we will cook and serve
them on our lunch lines to the students.  This will be the first
such, "garden" in the state of Wisconsin.

All of these gardens provide our students with great learning
and leadership opportunities, but most of all it teaches them
where our food comes from.
The money from this grant, would be use to purchase
equipment needed to expand our garden operations in the
district and allow us to impact more students.  It will also go
a long way toward providing sustainability of the
Farm2School program.
Click on the link below to access the site and view our
entry.  There are over 300 entries and only 17 schools will
be chosen, so we need your help!
